YMC Weight Loss Surgery Center

The Department of Weight Loss & Metabolic Surgery Center, including two of our physicians at Yotsuya Medical Cube, an urban clinic at the medical forefront, (in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Administrative/Hospital Director: Dr. Hirokazu Hayakawa) was designated on January19th as the first International Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery^SM in Japan.

This international certification was issued by the Surgical Review Corporation(*1)in recognition for implementing safe and high-quality care in bariatric and metabolic surgery. Currently only 17 facilities (including our hospital) are designated worldwide, with our facility being the first in Japan. This designation signifies international acclaim that we were evaluated as a medical facility with highly excelled staff and hospital management.

The YMC Weight Loss Surgery Center has experienced the largest number of bariatric surgery cases in Japan, including several types of procedures;

Our surgeons are well-trained in bariatric surgery practice in high volume centers overseas (including the United States, Australia and Brazil). They are familiar with the complex physiology and management of morbidly obese individuals.

The center provides a holistic approach to the management of obesity and associated illnesses. It brings together specialist bariatric surgeons, a medical social worker, nutritionist and specialized bariatric nurses. It also provides the best possible means for achieving sustainable long-term weight reduction.

We are also always ready to accept gastric band adjustments for those who underwent gastric banding surgery outside of Japan.
